NAFEC Annual Meeting Held in Gatlinburg, Tennessee

WASHINGTON (RuralWire), Aug 20, 2009 – The National Association of Farmer Elected Committees (NAFEC) recently held its annual meeting in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The event was held in conjunction with the National Association of County Office Employees (NASCOE) annual convention. This year’s venue was the beautiful Park Vista Resort Hotel in Gatlinburg, Tenn.
NAFEC elected a new slate of officers at the meeting, including:
President --- Jim Zumbrink, Ohio 1st Vice President ---Craig Turner, Texas 2nd Vice President---Jim Van Oss, Alaska Secretary / Treasurer---Tom Ardoin, La. NAFEC had a very full agenda, including a visit by Farm Service Agency (FSA) Administrator Jonathan Coppess. The group of officers and directors, led by out-going NAFEC President Dennis Kuhlengel of Ill., discussed many issues of concern to farmers and ranchers. The group discussed its legislative agenda with David Senter, Chairman of the Board & Chief Operating Officer of the Washington, D.C. firm KSCW, Inc.
NAFEC also held discussions of mutual interests with Bonnie Heinzman, out-going President of NASCOE, Jim Mace of JM Marketing and Myron Stroup, the newly-elected President of NASCOE. NASCOE will be publishing more detailed results of these efforts on their website: http://fsacountycommittees.org/ .
Newly ele cted President Zumbrink asked the group to continue to work for the good of the organization and its supporters. The next two years will be “tough times so we must look for all the resources and support available,” Zumbrink said. He complemented Dennis Kuhlengel for his loyalty and leadership and asked him to remain active in the organization as Director serving the Midwest Area. He also thanked Cole Sims from Louisiana as he continues to serve as Southeast Area Director. Craig Turner will continue to serve as Southwest Area Director and Jim Van Oss will remain as Northwest Area Director.
“Our entire board will continue to maintain a watchful eye and a tuned ear on the politics and policy issues facing America’s farmers and ranchers,” pledged Zumbrink.
