FSA’s Farmer Elected Committee Leadership Meet with Secretary Vilsack

WASHINGTON (RuralWire), March 23, 2009 –Dennis Kuhlengel, President of the National Association of Farmer Elected Committees (NAFEC) and his officers and directors met with U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack on March 18 to discuss farm program delivery issues.

“We were very pleased by the Secretary’s comments regarding simplifying and streamlining programs and processes within USDA’s program delivery platforms,” said Kuhlengel.  “Secretary Vilsack laid out his broad vision and goals for USDA and indicated his objectives for improving information technology included budgeting on a multi-year plan. His plan would allow for the necessary upgrades and improvements required to have a long term, viable system for the delivery of programs.

“Most importantly to NAFEC was the Secretary’s positive attitude,” stated Kuhlengel.  “His forward-thinking goals concerning energy, technology, and conservation as they relate to agriculture and the world outside agriculture give us reason to be hopeful that the future of USDA will be led and guided by a positive approach to solving issues affecting farmers as we feed and clothe the world.”
